The netsuke by Masamichi, both late 19th century
Comprising a recumbent wood ox, lying and staring passively ahead with all its legs folded in for compactness, signed in an oval reserve Masamichi, 7cm (2¾in); the three-case inro modelled in the form of a turtle with its head, legs and tail drawn inside its carapace, its eyes inlaid in pale amber with dark pupils, unsigned; 10.5cm (4 1/8in) high. (2).
