A fine and unusually mounted daisho

The katana by Yasumitsu, the wakizashi by Uda Kunimune, 17th century
The katana blade of hon-zukuri, iori-mune, chu-kissaki, torii-zori with flowing itame-hada of jinie with chikei, the tempered edge juka-choji-midare in nioi with yo, ashi, tobi-yaki, mune-yaki and yakidashi, the tip komaru; carved to one side with dragon and plum blossom horimono and to the other with bonji characters; the ubu nakago with katte-sagari file marks, two mekugi-ana and signed Kii (no) kuni Yasumitsu, carved with a dragon entwined around a plum tree on the omote and bonji on the ura, two-piece gold-foil habaki; the wakizashi blade of hon-zukuri, iori-mune, chu-kissaki, torii-zori forged in an itame-hada pattern with a sugu-ha tempered edge in nie and nioi, the tip komaru, the ubu nakago with kiri file marks and three mekugi-ana, signed Uda Kunimune, two-piece gold-foil habaki carved with severed heads in relief; each blade in a shirasaya with sayagaki by Sato Kanzan. The 19th-century daisho koshirae comprising a red-lacquered saya, each decorated with the heraldic crest of the Asano family in gold hiramakie and fitted with shakudo hardware including sayajiri decorated with a stupa in silhouette, a semegane, kaeshizuno and kurigata all finished with an ishime surface and decorated en suite with skulls and scattered bones, the shakudo nanakoji kozuka and kogai (the wakizashi fitted with warikogai) designed with skulls, bones and a Buddhist ken in iroe takazogan, the tsuka mounted with shakudo fuchi-gashira decorated with skulls and bones and the menuki with skulls and grave markers, the shakudo migakiji plate tsuba carved with skulls and scattered bones in high relief, unsigned. The katana blade 64cm (25 1/8in) long; the wakizashi blade 50.3cm (19¾in) long. (6).
