The two lingzhi fungus lying atop each other, their tactile skin well detailed, the white stone with minor russet inclusions, wood stand, 5.8cm (2¼in) wide; a white jade carving of Liuhai and the three-legged toad, 19th century, the Immortal supported on a double gourd, holding a ruyi sceptre suspending a musical stone, 4.1cm (1⅝in) high; a jadeite carving of a monkey and two young, Qing Dynasty, 4.7cm (1⅞in) high; and a soapstone carving of a figure playing with a mythical beast, 18th century, 6.5cm (2½in) wide (5).

Provenance: according to family tradition, the collection was formed by the grandmother of the current owner, who lived in Shanghai circa 1900. She moved to Shanghai as her husband was appointed manager of the Hong Kong and Shanghai bank.
