A carved rosewood box and tray

Late Qing Dynasty
The matching box and tray both finely carved around the sides with thin horizontal ribs, the box with two horizontal drawers with locking mechanisms, a pair of hinged mixed-metal/baitong handles set into the recessed cut-outs of the upper surface; the tray of square form with raised edges and containing two shallow trays to the front which open alternatively by pushing the other in by way of an internal mechanism, the wood of a rich reddish honey tone.
The box 33.4cm (13in) wide; the tray 35.1cm (13¾in) wide (2).
