A rare mother-of-pearl-inlaid incense box and cover in the form of a boy

18th century or earlier
Finely modelled in the form of a reclining boy with one knee raised and his chin resting on his crossed arms, his trousers and jacket intricately inlaid with mother-of-pearl to represent the foliate and geometric designs of the fabrics, Japanese box.
6.7cm (2½in) long (3).
