A pair of red lacquer pear-shaped vases

19th century
Each carved around the sides with four circular panels alternately enclosing riverscapes and groups of boys at play, interspersed by various floral sprays with a band of lotus lappets and classic-scroll band at the foot, the neck with the Eight Buddhist Emblems, bajixiang, carved in two registers and separated by a dense lotus scrolls, all bordered below by a border of shou medallions and above by bands of pendent blades and classic scroll at the mouth, the interior lacquered black, the rims mounted in bronze.
