Footnotes
This bottle bears relation to a group of commemorative bottles attributed to the Official School which are believed to have been produced following the 1759 conquest of Xinjiang province under the Qianlong Emperor. See a similar cameo agate bottle from this group in the Bloch Collection, illustrated by H.Moss, V.Graham and K.B.Tsang, A Treasury of Chinese Snuff Bottles, Vol.2, Hong Kong, 1998, no.305. However, whilst the bottles from this Official School have the character 'ling' (command) inscribed on the banner, the present bottle does not.
