Footnotes
Thinly worked 'Mughal' jades with inlaid semi-precious stones were popular tribute gifts to the Qing Court. The quantity of comparable boxes in the National Palace Museum bears testament to this popularity, see Exquisite Beauty: Islamic Jades, Taipei, 2007, Catalogue nos. 35, 43, 120 and 121.
