The gently rounded sides carved in low relief with a band of stylised taotie masks surmounted by ruyi-heads and flanked by archaistic scrolls, the translucent white stone with some cloudy white inclusions. 11.4cm (4½in) diam.

Footnotes
The present lot would have originally formed the finely-carved cover for a similarly carved jade bowl. After being separated from its companion piece, it is likely that it was enjoyed as a bowl by the last owners.
