A cloisonné enamel 'dragon' basin

19th century
The interior finely enamelled with a central medallion enclosing a full-faced five-clawed dragon pursuing the flaming pearl amidst cloud scrolls, the walls similarly decorated with eight further dragons, the rim with the bajixiang, 'Eight Buddhist Emblems' alternating with lotus blossoms, the exterior colourfully enamelled with the Eight Horses of Muwang amidst pavilions, rockwork and trees above waves, the underside of the rim with Shou characters alternating with lotus blossoms, all reserved on a turquoise ground.
40.7cm (16in) diam.
