Daoguang, dated by inscription to AD 1841 and of the period
Well painted in vibrant colours with seated mandarin and wife, each bearing a bird badge, possibly crane, and adorned with a court rosary over the blue-ground and red and gilt-dragon-ground robes respectively, the elderly official wearing a sable-fur-lined hat with a gilt hat button, the lady wearing an elaborate hairdress adorned with auspicious emblems and characters and suspending pearl strings, all below a twenty-two-line inscription and two red seals, mounted, framed and glazed.
Framed, overall 182cm x 109cm (71⅝in x 42⅞in).
