A gilt-bronze figure of Maitreya

Nepal, 15th/16th century
The deity seated in dhyanasana atop a lotus pedestal with a lower frieze cast with peacocks flanking a pair of deer and a floral blossom, the deity's hands held in dhyana mudra, her arms flanked by lily sprays, the face set in a serene expression, the usnisha framed by the three-point tiara, adorned with beaded jewellery and semi-precious stones, box. 12cm (4¾in) high (2).
