A massive inscribed bronze ritual vessel and cover, dou

18th century
Cast after the archaic bronze prototype, the globular body flanked by a pair of loop handles and surmounted by a domed cover with three upright loop handles, supported on a tall splayed foot finely cast in relief with overlapping petals bound by a double band, the interior of the dou and the cover cast with identical seven-line archaistic pictogram inscriptions, traces of gilt.
