A large archaistic bronze tripod censer, ding

Ming Dynasty
The heavily-cast vessel with bombé sides rising to a flattened rim and surmounted by a pair of upright loop handles, supported on three sturdy legs cast with concentric bands and taotie masks split by raised, notched flanges, the sides cast with two registers of dense archaistic taotie motifs against a leiwen ground, above a band of cast pendent lotus lappets, with elaborately-carved wood stand and pierced cover, the stand well carved with a dragon's head emerging from clouds, the cover similarly carved with bats amidst clouds surmounted by a lingzhi fungus finial.
Overall 72.6cm (28½in) high (3).
