A spinach jade archaistic box and cover, tulu

18th/19th century
Carved after an archaic bronze prototype, with columnar corners and a very slightly rounded top, carved on the cover with four ribbons framed by interlocked ruyi-heads, raised on four bun feet, the stone of spinach-green tone with tiny black speckles, wood stand, 5.7cm (2¼in) wide; together with a green jade Buddhist lion and ribboned brocade ball, 18th/19th century, carved with bulging eyes, menacing teeth and curled mane, 6.7cm (2⅝in) high; and a jadeite double-gourd pendant, 19th century, carved with a smaller gourd borne on gnarled leafy branch, 4cm (1½in) long
