Two oban prints, one from the series Saki-wake kotoba no hana (Variegations of Blooms According to their Speech), showing the half-length portraits of a mother and her naughty daughter, who is making a face by pulling down her eyelids, an inscription above each figure outlining their exchange, published by Yamamura; the second entitled Okitsu from the series Bijin Ichidai Gojyusantsugi (Comparison of the Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido to bijin) depicting a mother carrying her child on her shoulders, published by Maruya Jinpachi, both signed Utamaro hitsu. Both framed and glazed, 37cm x 24½cm (14 5/8in x 9 5/8in). (2).
