Modelled in the form of a mythological ho-o (phoenix) with its breast pushed out, head raised and its tail feathers trailing to the ground, its back pierced with three vents forms the detachable cover, the bronze with a striking reddish-brown patina, signed Masakazu; with tomobako titled and signed by the artist Masakazu saku with seal Masakazu. 19cm (7½in) high, 30.5cm (12in) long.
