A squat guan-shaped ovoid vase

By Hata Zoroku II (active Taisho Period), dated 1913
Based upon the Chinese late Shang Dynasty bronze prototype, cast in low relief with lappets enclosing archaic motifs over an incised leiwen ground; the shoulder moulded in relief with three ram-heads; the base signed in tensho script Zoroku; with double tomobako, the inside of the inner lid titled, dated and signed by the artist Taisho mizunoto-ushi kaheizuki, Heian, Zoroku seizo (in December of Taisho 2 [1913], in Kyoto, made by Zoroku) with two seals. 21cm (8¼in) high.
