Reminiscent of an ancient Chinese ritual vessel, the body is decorated with lappets enclosing archaic symbols cast in low relief over an incised leiwen ground; the neck and foot similarly decorated, the base carved with the characters Zoroku in tensho script; with double tomobako, the inside of the inner lid titled, dated and signed by the artist Kanoto-tori aki ni oite, Suikosai, Zoroku zo (in Autumn of Taisho 10 [1921], at Suikosai, made by Zoroku) with seal. 34.6cm (13 5/8in) high.
