Naturalistically chiselled, modelled as a goose perched with its head raised and turned to the back, on detachable rocky crag in shibuichi inlaid with patches of gilt to represent lichen, the bird's beak and legs of gilt, its eyes double-inlaid in gilt with shakudo pupils, a section of plumage on its back pierced and removable forming the cover, signed beneath Mitsuharu saku; with tomobako titled Goto Etsujo utsushi, gan (after Goto Etsujo, Goose) and signed by the artist Furoan ni oite, Katsura Mitsuharu saku with seal Mitsuharu. 30.5cm (12in) overall height.
