A cast and chiselled standing figure of the God of Longevity, typically modelled with long beard, wearing a scholar's robe, headdress and slippers, holding a separate gold staff, accompanied by a stag, the figure's garments and headdress inlaid in gold honzogan with cloud and medallion designs, the spots on the stag's body inlaid in silver honzogan; the figure signed Mitsuharu saku with gold seal Mitsuharu, the stag's belly signed Mitsuharu with kakihan, with double wood storage boxes, the inner tomobako titled, inscribed and signed by the artist, Juro okimono, Shibuichi ki kin gin shakudo zogan, Furo-an ni oite, Katsura Mitsuharu saku with seal Mitsuharu, with certificate inscribed and sealed by the artist. The figure 30.2cm (11 7/8in) high, the stag 19.7cm (7¾in) high, the staff 37.4cm (14¾in) high. (6).

Katsura Mitsuhara studied under Toyokawa Mitsunaga II (1851‐1923). The artist's works were exhibited in the Paris and Chicago International Exposition, and other metal works by him are in the collection of the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo.
