The mythological archer standing clad in windswept robes and affixed to a stepped rectangular plinth, holding a large bow and carrying four loose arrows contained in a basket quiver strapped to his back, signed in a rectangular reserve Gyoko. 78½cm (30 7/8in).

Akasofu Gyoko (dates unknown) lived in Tokyo, his factory producing cast metalwork for export. His given name was Sotojiro and he is recorded as a member of the Tokyo Chukinkai (Tokyo Cast Metalworkers' Association) in the second half of the Meiji period.
