Of rectangular section, delicately painted with four panels depicting seasonal figural scenes separated by kacho-ga, one depicting families enjoying cherry blossoms in Spring, the other of figures at leisure on the banks of a river in Autumn, alternating with panels of quail and Mandarin ducks; the cover decorated with assorted brocade and surmounted by a knop in the form of a pair of frolicking shishi; the two bracket handles with bijin and children, the base signed Dai Nippon, Kyoto Tojiki Goshigaisha, Ryozan kore wo tsukuru. 21.5cm x 21cm x 14cm (8½in x 8¼in x 5½in).
