Raised on four bracket feet, lavishly embellished in gold takamakie and mother-of-pearl with a butterfly hovering over sprays of flowering spider kiku, the blossoms applied in cloisonné enamel on a simulated plaited basket ground, bordered by further clumps of chrysanthemums decorated in Shibayama style, the reverse signed in gold lacquer Rinankei with seal Ujifusa. 30.2cm x 39.8cm (11 7/8in x 15 5/8in).
