The overlapping cover carved all over in relief with the handsome architectural thick-stemmed palm lily plant and foliage, the design extending down over the sides, the pointed upright leaves and thick clump of white sharp-pointed buds rendered in sandwiched layers of black and cream and lacquered in shiro-nuri, shibuichi-ishime nuri brown, dark green and blue with details of gold over a red ground, the inside of the cover signed in red Kosei with kakihan; with tomobako titled Choshitsu bunko, Kimigayo-ran (Carved lacquer document box, Yucca gloriosa) and signed by the artist Togashi Kosei with seal Kosei. 6.5cm x 46cm x 38cm (2½in x 18 1/16in x 15in).
