Naturalistically modelled on a semi-circular base, the buck standing on its hind quarters with its front paws raised, about to mount the doe lying still on the ground, the front of the base with chiselled signature Yuzo saku; with tomobako titled Hiyori (a sunny day), dated and signed by the artist on the inside of the lid Showa yo-nen shun-jitsu, Kawashima Yuzo saku (in the Spring of Showa 4 [1929], made by Kawashima Yuzo) with seal. 19cm x 21.6cm (7½in x 8½in).
