Carved in ittobori, lying with all its legs folded in for compactness save for a raised foreleg, its head raised upwards towards the sky, the reverse of the stand with carved signature Kosho saku; with tomobako titled, dated and signed by the artist Naku ojika, Showa yonju-nen ichi-gatsu kissho, Hashimoto Kosho (Crying Deer, on an auspicious day in January of Showa 40 [1965], Hashimoto Kosho). 22.5cm (8¾in) high, 30.5cm (12in) long.
