Meiji Period
The elegant go board is raised on four integral, low bulbous legs and finely embellished in gold and iroe takamakie, kirikane and aogai with Asazuma-hime seated with a tsuzumi on a moored boat beneath willow branches on one side; the other with clumps of chrysanthemums growing from behind a brushwood fence, reserved on a rich nashiji ground, unsigned; with two ensuite gold-lacquered wood goke (bowls) containing black and white goishi (stones) and two wood storage boxes. 28cm x 45.7cm x 41.7cm (11in x 18in x 16in), both bowls 10.1cm (4in) high.
