In the form of a standing figure of Shojo, constructed in two sections with the upper body detachable, the mythical creature is modelled holding a tama in one hand and another implement (missing) in the other, its distinctive flowing mane of red hair draping over its back and attired in a formal dance costume, used in the Noh play Shojo Midare, decorated in gold takamakie with details in aogai with patterned brocades, ho-o and dragon roundels, unsigned; with wood storage box. 22.3cm (8¾in) high.
