The exterior decorated in gold, silver and iroe hiramakie and togidashi with stylised confronted butterfly, crane and ho-o roundels, sprays of peony and cherry interspersed among karakusa, the inside of the lid with crickets among windswept Autumnal plants and flowers, the drops of dew on the pampas grasses discreetly inlaid in silver, the box containing an inkstone and a sentoku water dropper in the form of a kiku bud, with wood storage box. 4cm x 24½cm x 15½cm (1½in x 9 5/8in x 6 1/8in).
