Attributed to Ogawa Haritsu (Ritsuo) (1663-1747), early 18th century
In the form of a temple bronze bell, lacquered in dark grey and with a large flying bird in relief to one side, lacquered in shibuichi-nuri, and six falling leaves, variously of lacquer and inlaid aogai and pottery, an inscription to each side reading Namuamidabutsu, signed with pottery seal Kan; with metal ojime, unsigned, and a gourd-shaped netsuke carved with flowers and foliage in tsuikoku, unsigned. 10½cm (4 1/8in) high.
