One by Shokasai, 19th century
Both decorated in gold takamakie, kirigane, togidashi and e-nashiji; the oval-shaped four-case inro decorated with a sarumawashi and monkey with another fellow traveller and mule aboard a boat, signed Shokasai, with two-part manju netsuke, unsigned, 8.3cm (3¼in) high; the other of upright form, bearing five cases, decorated with the Famous Stations on the Tokaido road, unsigned, 9.2cm (3 5/8in) high. (2).
