Both decorated in gold and iroe-takamakie, the first formed of four cases depicting the battle between Taira no Noritsune and Minamoto no Yoshitsune at Dannoura in 1185, where the famous archer, Noritsune, met his death, with details inlaid in kirigane and togidashi, unsigned, 7.1cm (2¾in) high; the second of five cases, with a peacock and peahen perched on pine branches, signed Jokasai; 8.3cm (3¼in) high.
