There is scant information recorded on the artist other than that he harboured a keen interest in Western art, and began studying Western painting and drawing at the Taiheiyoga-kai (Pacific Painting Research Institute); he was also a member of the Hakuba-kai (The White Horse Society), which was founded by a group of artists that included Seiki Kuroda.
