Although little is known about the artist, his exposure to Western-style painting techniques are evident in this work, exemplified by the manipulation of colour, light and shadow. The tones of ink are carefully varied to create a convincing sense of depth and distance to the leafy undergrowth whilst a golden glow to evoke the early morning Summer sunshine is achieved by the silk background.
