Kakejiku, a pair of scrolls, painted in ink and colour on silk, one depicting in the foreground suzumushi on tall stems of ominaeshi, the full moon in the distance, signed Seitei dojin with two seals, the other painted with two puppies besides nogiku signed Seitei dojin sha with seal Seitei, with tomobako titled, dated and signed by the artist Kanoe-ne [...]haru Seitei dojin (in Spring, year of the Rat [1900] painted by solitary Seitei) with seal Seitei; with letter of authentification by Kawakita Michiaki. 98½cm x 35cm (38¾in x 13¾in). Kawakita Michiaki (1914-1995) was an art critic. He was born in Fukuoka prefecture and graduated from Kyoto Imperial University. In 1943 he worked for the Institute of Art at the Ministry of Education. He was also appointed Director of the Kyoto National Museum of Modern Art in 1969. In 1991 he received an award for his meritorious service in society and culture.
