A very rare pearlware commemorative bowl

circa 1790
Of small size, the interior printed in blue with a head and shoulders portrait of 'QUEEN CHARLOTTE' within an oval panel, an elaborate border below the interior rim, the exterior with floral sprigs, 13.4cm diam (cracked and restored)

Footnotes

The same portrait print, together with those of George III, the Prince of Wales and William Pitt, appeared on a two-handled cup and cover sold by Bonhams on Chester on 13 January 2010, lot 83. Presumably produced at around the time of the recovery of the King from illness in March 1789
