Footnotes
The Burdett-Coutts service is thought to have been ordered by the banker Thomas Coutts. The floral painting is likely to be the work of Thomas Turner at the Sims workshop. Most pieces from the service bear red-painted inventory numbers. This lot bears no inventory number and the meaning of 'CANDILLI' is not known. The plate is perhaps from another service of the same pattern
