Of square form, the painting attributed to James Turner at the Sims workshop in London, a sprays of three pink roses and a brightly coloured insect in the centre, the border with eight panels of roses and leaves reserved on a ground of tightly packed gilt dots, the panels edged with rich neoclassical gilding, the shaped rim with dentil gilding. 23.8cm wide, impressed NANT-GARW CW (line around cavetto re-gilded)

The painting on this plate is closely related to that on a plate in the Victoria and Albert Museum that was attributed to James Turner in the 19th century, the Derby style of painting and colourful scattered insects being distinguishing features.
