Footnotes
Thomas Pardoe had established his own decorating business in Bristol by 1809. Marked examples of his work there are rare and include a number of tea and coffee services painted on Coalport blanks. These include the Milford Service, the Lewes Service and a recently discovered service painted with shells reserved on a peach-coloured ground. Examples from the last two mentioned sets were sold in these rooms on 10 December 2008, lots 279, 281 and 282. His work on earthenwares appears far less frequently. His first address in Bristol was 'under the Bank', where he may have taken the premises of John Eaves, a china enameller who had previously worked at the same address. By 1812, he had moved the business to 28 Bath Street. Worle is a village near Weston-super-Mare.
