A good English porcelain tray

circa 1825-30
Of rectangular form with a pierced and gilded gallery, painted in Vienna style with Procris and Cephalus, the reverse inscribed in red with a quotation from Ovid's Metamorphoses and 'From a picture by Angelica Kauffman', 24.6cm wide

Footnotes

The red script is reminiscent of that found on pieces painted by Doe and Rogers at 17 High Street, Worcester and this lot may have been painted there also
