circa 1800-1805
Of D-shape with a pierced gallery around the rim and supported by four gilded bun feet, the interior with stem-supports, painted with an extensive river landscape, a building with one wing supported on stilts over the river, two figures on the riverbank, flanked by two smaller landscapes and gilded Ionic pilasters, 18.8cm high, impressed W(***) (cover lacking)

Footnotes

Provenance: Godden Reference Collection. The majority of W(***) bough pots have three bun feet and a simple wavy rim. A small number are recorded with four feet and a pierced rim as seen in this lot. See Geoffrey Godden, Staffordshire Porcelain (1983), fig 718 for another of the same form. The painting may have been done at the Mansfield workshops of William Billingsley
