Footnotes
A slightly larger but very similar teabowl and saucer from the Susi and Ian Sutherland Collection was sold in these rooms on 3 October 2007, lot 280. See also Simon Spero, The Simpson Collection (2003), nos 48-54 for a part James Pennington toy service of the same pattern. The exceptionally small size of these pieces suggest that they were intended for a dolls' house. They are certainly amongst the smallest known 18th century toy teawares
