Of flared oval form with a band of fine shell-moulding, three trailing floral sprigs moulded just above the foot outlined in black and coloured in pink, yellow, blue and green, the same palette used for floral borders both inside and outside of the rim, a single flower sprig within the interior, 13.3cm wide (some chips, cover lacking)
Footnotes
Probably inspired by contemporary silver, examples of this form are only rarely found and are amongst the earliest recorded English porcelain sucriers. An example from the Zorensky Collection, Part 1, lot 19, retained the original cover but lacked the delicate floral painting seen above the foot on this lot. Another is illustrated by H Rissik Marshall, Coloured Worcester Porcelain of the First Period, plate 3, no 48
Saleroom notices
Please note that there is a 'scratch cross' mark on the footrim of this bowl. Cross marks are usually found on plain Worcester teawares and other turned shapes at this date and it is unusual to find such a mark on an ornamental, moulded shape.
