Collection of Geoffrey Gilmore, Paris
Christie's London, 30 October, 1989
Private collection, England
The high cheekbones and dimpled chin of the young man in this portrait suggest that the sitter is Charles Vincent, a friend of the artist and subject of other paintings, such as Portrait of an acrobat c. 1931, (see exhibition catalogue for Pavel Tchelitchew; A selection of Paintings, Gouaches and Drawings, arranged by Richard Nathanson, London, The Alpine Club, 1972, no.30, illustrated).
