An early Soviet honorary shashka

Zlatoust Arms Factory, 1928
the slightly curved blade etched with a Civil War military scene and dedication inscription in Russian 'To the hero of the Civil War Tolokoniev A.F., Head of the Industrial Department of VSNKH from the workers and staff of Zlatoust Mechanical Factory', fully marked and dated; the horn hilt with gilded brass mounts, pommel with a Red Army star and letters 'SSSR' and repoussé decoration, leather scabbard with lacquered finish indicative of the General or Marshall rank of the recipient of the shashka, three gilt brass fittings, top mount decorated with early Soviet State insignia, belt ring attached to the middle mount; in original wooden velvet-lined box, sold together with hand embroidered portrait of Joseph Stalin
