Beliutin studied at the Surikov Art Institute in Moscow under A.V. Lentulov, P.V. Kuznetsov and L.A. Bruni. Attempting to revive the avant-garde movement, Beliutin opened his own art studio, which became the base for the group 'New Reality' ('Novaya Realnost'). Refusing to remain underground and overlooked, in the 60s he organised one of the first public exhibitions of the Art of the Underground at the Manezh which was condemned by Kruschev's government. 1991, however, saw a triumph for the artist's ideological ambitions when, during Perestroika, a large exhibition of non-conformist art was staged at the Manezh: a nod to its historical and much-criticised 60s counterpart. Beliutin's works can be found in many important private and public collections worldwide.
