Footnotes

The S.S. Mariston was built by the Robert Duncan & Co Ltd at Port Glasgow in 1912 and over the next 36 years she carried the names of Milcovul, Hyphaestos and Creekirk. On 10th May 1940 she left Sydney, Australia in convoy to Workington, she strayed from her Navy protection and she was sunk by a German U-46.
