A bronze umbrella handle with mixed metal accents

Meiji Period
Cast as a slender double gourd with a solitary praying mantis climbing on one of the leafy scrolling tendrils issuing from the base, executed in gold, silver and copper overlay on a textured ground, gold cartouche signed Mingyoku, with a gold rim band and now fitted with a length of stained bamboo.
