Meiji/Taisho Period
The first an oval box carved to either side with a panel featuring elephants, monkeys and lions, all reserved on a deeply undercut millefleur ground repeated on the cover with a floral finial; the second a small figural okimono of a kneeling samurai and his youthful attendant carrying an offering tray.
